Absolutely, UV and TiO2 work effectively in disinfecting air and surfaces constantly 24/7
Yes, the UV-C disinfects the surfaces while the Ozone disinfects rest of the areas through the air.
Depending on the room size and its placement in a room, the UV-Kleen™ system can take as short as 11 seconds to kill coronavirus. EPL recommends a minimum of 3 min application to make sure the unit kills all pathogens in the room of 12’x12’x9’.
Yes, Surface-KleenTM can be applied on all surfaces, including LCD screens, electronics, metal, glass, plastic and many other.
Yes, the UV-KleenTM will have two independent controllable switches that turn on UV and Ozone. The system can generate UV or Ozone or both.
Yes on certain models, but please make sure to turn off the Ozone generation module. Follow UV safety instructions.
UV-KleenTM comes with 100,000 hrs life lamp and patented electronics. The warranty is 5 years on lamp and electronics with 1 year on additional electronic components.
Healthcare / Germicidal Applications
Pathogen is an organism that causes disease. It is also referred to as an infectious agent, or simply a germ. Virus, bacteria, mold, and spores are the examples for pathogens.
UV-Kleen™ system works on two proven advanced technologies: Photolysis and Oxidation.
Photolysis is a process in which the UV-C light breaks the molecular bonds and rearrange them so that the pathogens will not live any further.
Oxidation is a process in which Ozone rips the electrons in the pathogens and breaks their cellular walls so the pathogens will not live any further.
It takes less than 10sec to kill the most common virus/bacteria in the room, including coronavirus when the lamp is under 6 inch away from the area to be disinfected. The disinfectant times vary with respect to humidity, temperature and the area of the room. EPL recommends a minimum of 3 min application to make sure the unit kills all pathogens in the room of 12’x12’x9’.
Eco friendly, no-residue, less human interaction, no exposure to strong chemical agents, labor less, less operational expenditure, proven technology, widely adapted in US and Europe.
Yes. UV cannot reach all the parts of the room, but Ozone can spread across the room where UV cannot reach, example under the bed.
Yes, prolonged exposure of ozone causes respiratory issues on personnel. UV-KleenTM controls the Ozone generation so that its limits don’t exceed FDA regulated amounts.
UV alone: when the area is occupied and/or Ozone isn’t needed. Ex: front desk of an office. Follow safety instruction for operating UV
Ozone alone: when there are a lot of hidden spots to clean, disinfectant microfiber structures in the ABSENCE of people. Ex: HVAC, hospital rooms
UV + Ozone: when powerful disinfectant agents are needed. No human presence in the room is needed. Ex: COVID19 exposed areas, schools, hospitals
EP Lighting recommends UV + Ozone for the best and fast disinfecting process.
Yes, any medical equipment, PPE and other hospital equipment can be disinfected using UV lights, except surgical equipment used in the operating rooms. Surgical equipment used in the operating rooms may need to be autoclaved and sterilized.
No, the lamps last for 100,000 hours (11 years) for continued operation
Every device including the imaging machinery can be disinfected by UV-KleenTM. Exposure times are short enough to prevent any adverse impact upon plastic parts.
UV aging results show that it can have impact on the plastic for prolonged exposure and depending upon the specific radiation wavelength. Since units are only operated for short bursts, the potential for damage is minimal.
UV will sanitize any surface.
Yes, UV + Ozone can penetrate through the spores, fungus, and mold.
UV-C is proven disinfectant and there are tons of published articles on its efficacy. UV-B is coming up in recent research studies about its pathogenic effect.
Standard cleaning protocols need to be followed to remove foreign particles from the surfaces.
Yes, as much as UV and Ozone can reach.
COVID-19 exposure should be verified with a swab test. However, once an effective protocol is determined, these tests should no longer be necessary. Following guidelines to see how much time is needed to kill the COVID-19 virus should be sufficient.
The product is in the process of registering with FDA. All the electronics fixtures are approved by ETL-USA.
The UV light might not reach all the crevices of bedsheets and beds, but the Ozone is powerful enough to reach all parts of the bed.
No regulation on UV lights. However, the Ozone needs to be under 0.5ppm to meet FDA regulations. And yes, we are under 0.5ppm for Ozone concentration AFTER sanitization.
UV light does not promote combustion. Yes, it is safe to use UV light to disinfect the room with alcohol based disinfectants.
UV works on wet floors. UV can disinfect solutions and is used for water treatment.
Operational and Safety Questions
Using a dosimeter that measures the UV-C radiation within the 254nm range. The dosimeter color change indicates the strength of UV-C radiation using a pre-printed color scale per the samples. Find out more about dosimeters from our whitepaper
Depending on the duration and the number of lamps used in the room, there is a possibility that the units will kill up to 99.9999% (log 6 reduction) of all the pathogens.
Not necessarily. We will provide you guidance on the time duration based on the room size and shape.
The device needs to be operated in a space in the absence of personnel. Guidelines must need to be followed in the operation of the device, and it needs to be operated by a trained professional.
Prolonged exposure of personnel to UV causes eye and skin irritation. Prolonged exposure of Ozone causes respiratory issues. Short term exposure should not cause adverse effects on personnel. When recommended precautions are taken there is no damage caused by PureEco.
No, with its short run time the surrounding equipment should not get affected. However, other competitors degrade the plastic material lifetime by 20% over a period of time.
- Authorized personal use only
- No direct exposure to PureEco when in operation.
- Never see the UV lamp directly with naked eye. Proper eye protection is required.
- Use PPE to enter room when EP Lighting is in operation; in case of emergency
UV danger is a function of intensity, proximity, and length of exposure. Brief encounters with units of under a minute should pose no health threat. Contact an eye doctor immediately if the exposed person has severe eye irritation
Open the doors and windows of the room to ventilate the Ozone. Move the exposed person to fresh air. Consult the doctor immediately if the person has breathing issues.
Technical Questions
UV energy initiates a reaction between two thymine molecules within DNA. Although bacteria can normally repair damaged DNA, when the damage is extensive the cell ceases to function. This same response can be engendered in viruses and fungi relative to the wavelength used and the light intensity.
The Ozone generated during the disinfection process is the main reason for smell. And the other reason is the dust in any room consists of around 80% of dead human skin and hair cells, and the rest is fibers, minerals and cells. The amount of human skin cells in dust concentrations due to human presence in areas that UVC devices disinfect is extremely high. With high levels of keratin and cysteine in the dust particles (from skin cells and hair), the breaking of chemical bonds in both molecules causes the formation of sulfur-containing thiols. With the low threshold of human detection to smell, thiols are the reason why UV devices cause a potentially unpleasant odor in rooms after disinfection.
It takes less than 10sec to kill the most common virus/bacteria in the room, including coronavirus when the lamp is under 6 inch away from the area to be disinfected. The disinfectant times vary with respect to humidity, temperature and the area of the room.
